Tattoo FAQs

How do I book a tattoo?
Use our enquiry form to tell us your idea, where you’d like it and roughly how big you want it. Include reference pictures and your preferred artist, if you have one. We’ll help you with the next step.

Do I need to know exactly what I want?
No. A rough idea is enough to start. We can help you choose the style, size and placement, then bring your ideas together into a design.

How do I choose the right artist?
Browse our artist portfolios to see whose work you like. If you’re unsure, send us your idea and we’ll help match you with a suitable artist.

Do I need a consultation?
Some tattoos can be planned through messages. Larger or more complex pieces may need a consultation to discuss the design and placement. We’ll let you know what’s needed.

How much will my tattoo cost?
The price depends on the artist, size, detail, placement and time needed. Send us your ideas and we’ll discuss the cost before you book.

Do I need to pay a deposit?
Yes. A deposit secures your appointment, and we’ll explain the amount and booking terms before you pay. For tattoos completed over several sessions, the deposit comes off your final session.

When will I see my design?
We usually send your design around two to three days before your appointment. This gives you time to look it over and discuss any small changes with your artist.

Can I change my design?
Small adjustments are welcome. A change of concept, placement or colour direction may need a full redesign and a new deposit. Please tell your artist as soon as possible if your plans change.

Can you cover or rework an old tattoo?
Send us a clear photo of the existing tattoo and explain what you’d like to achieve. We’ll assess what may be possible and whether the project suits one of our artists.

Will my tattoo take more than one session?
Larger or more detailed tattoos may need several appointments. Your artist will explain the likely number of sessions and help you plan the project.

Does getting a tattoo hurt?
There is some discomfort, and everyone experiences it differently. Tell your artist how you’re feeling throughout the session—you can ask for a break at any time.

I’m nervous about my first tattoo. Is that normal?
Absolutely. Let us know it’s your first time or that you’re feeling nervous. We’ll explain the process, answer your questions and check you’re comfortable before we begin.

Can I use numbing cream?
We don’t allow numbing creams or sprays at High Edge Studio. Please arrive without applying them. If you’re worried about discomfort, speak to your artist before your appointment.

How should I prepare for my appointment?
Eat a proper meal, drink water and wear comfortable clothing that gives easy access to the area being tattooed. Bring food and snacks for a longer session. Please arrive sober and without numbing cream or spray.

Can I take breaks during the session?
Yes. You can ask for a drink, food, a stretch or a toilet break whenever you need one. You don’t need to wait for your artist to offer.

What if I need to cancel or move my appointment?
Contact us as soon as possible. Changes can affect your deposit, so check the booking terms provided when you booked. We’ll explain your options before arranging another date.

How do I look after my new tattoo?
Your artist will explain how to care for your tattoo before you leave, including how to look after the dressing. Follow the advice provided and contact us if anything is unclear.

What if I have a question after my appointment?
Get in touch with your artist or the studio. We’re happy to answer aftercare questions and help with your next session. If you think your tattoo may be infected, seek medical advice promptly rather than waiting for a studio reply.
